Every year, Gujarat celebrates more than 200 festivals. The festival of Makar Sankranti marks the day when winter begins to turn into summer, according to the Indian calendar.

Ganesh Chaturthi is an auspicious Hindu festival which is celebrated for 10 days every year. Ganesh is known as the God of wealth, sciences, knowledge, wisdom and prosperity, and that's why most Hindus remember him and seek his blessings before starting any important work.

Janmashtami: Lord Krishna was born at midnight, and devotees observe a fast and sing devotional songs for him as the clock strikes twelve. As a part of the ritual, statues of baby Krishna are washed and placed for worship. Devotees then break their fast and share food and sweets.

'Navratri' means 'nine nights.' 'Nava' means 'nine,’ and 'Ratri' means 'night.'

Night provides rest and rejuvenation. During the night, you turn inwards through sleep, and you wake up feeling refreshed and rested in the morning. In the same way, Navratri or the ‘nine nights’ is that time of the year when you get the chance to experience deep rest. 

It is believed that one can get rid of all woes by keeping a vrat and performing the puja with devotion. Thus by doing so, the devotee can appeal to the Lord to shower his compassionate grace on him/her.

Observed by more than a billion people across faiths, this five-day festival of lights brings prayer, feasts, fireworks and, for some, a new year. Diwali is India's most important festival of the year—a time to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.
